Campus Job Opportunity: Rose Institute Research Assistant
The Rose Institute is a leading undergraduate research center specializing in state and local government analysis. Each year, the Institute hires seven to nine freshmen who typically work at the Institute for four years (with time off for off-campus study if desired). Some of the opportunities for student employees include working closely with faculty who are the leading experts in state and local public policy, gaining impressive professional credentials, interfacing with clients, contributing to widely recognized research, and developing the technical skills to create professional publications and presentations. We are now accepting applications.
During the 2008-09 academic year, students at the Rose Institute managed and developed projects in a variety of public policy areas: they prepared effective public policy measures for redistricting reform; researched legal challenges to ballot initiatives; compared business taxes and fees in more than 400 cities nationwide for the annual Kosmont-Rose Institute Cost of Doing Business Survey; analyzed Southern California business retention; conducted background research for a San Diego newspaper; and prepared a number of business and policy surveys for local governments and regional agencies. Students also contributed to various economic impact reports and demographic studies.
